Ill never know her in real life; Ill never know her real name or what she looked like or what her goals were for the future or what flavor ice cream was her favorite, or her favorite books or anything like that. There are some things I do know about C.W. Sun (known by most as Hakubaikou), though, and those were enough to make me feel the loss keenly when I read the news on deviantart.com. She was a big fan of rurouni kenshin. She had one of the best RK fansites on the web, and she held five annual Kenshin fanart contests, from 2004 to 2008. She was an amazing artist and an AMAZING writer; I read her fanfiction and watched her on dA for quite a long time. She was kind, courteous, had a great sense of humor and all kinds of interesting thoughts. She brightened many peoples days with her psychological interest studies, and with her ideas and random thoughts. She was always willing to talk to people who had questions or comments and I got the sense that she was a very caring person as well. She was understanding about peoples views, and believed in letting people keep their opinions rather than trying to force one on them. Her art and her presence in the RK fandom touched a lot of peoples lives and made many people feel that they had a friend in her, although they only knew her online. Not only will we greatly miss seeing how much she could do in the future, well miss having our days brightened by her creative ideas and mood-lifting fun facts. Most of all we are saddened that such a bright personality is now lost to us.
If youve never seen Hakubaikous artwork, you can check it out at
[link]. If you really like any of it and are able to buy any of her prints, you can do so and the proceeds will go towards a scholarship in her name. (I know theyre expensive, but I wanted to contribute so I bought two small ones without frames, and they were like $23.50 each. Obviously Im promoting this but dont feel pressured. No ones going to put a jihad on you if you dont purchase a print. It would be cool if you would at least look at her stuff. Its amazingly good; both RK fanart and original fantasy art. So yeah.)
Bye-bye, Haku. I didnt get to know you well enough at all, but damn if you didnt make a huge impression on me. I can only hope youre content with the amount you did do in your life, and maybe youll come back sometime and well meet again! I hope so.
Sorry if you see this on facebook too, i just wanted everyone who might be interested to see it.
btw I actually have a scanner now, and have been doing a little drawing, so I might get some art up. Maybe. But you know me.
